Cedar School

Cedar School is a private early care and education (ECE) center that serves 74 children per day (14 Waddlers and Toddlers, 20 Early Preschoolers, 20 Preschoolers, and 20 Pre-K students). We proudly adhere to the Washington State Administrative Code for licensed ECE to provide the highest standards of early learning and care.

Who

We are a team of dedicated and experienced educators who are deeply committed to fostering the growth and development of young children. With years of expertise in early childhood education, we provide exceptional developmental support, tailored to meet the unique needs of each child. Our approach emphasizes a nurturing, safe, and stimulating environment where children feel encouraged to explore, learn, and grow. We believe in creating a foundation for lifelong learning by offering engaging, hands-on experiences that promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development. By fostering a positive and supportive atmosphere, we aim to inspire curiosity, build confidence, and lay the groundwork for success in school and beyond.

What

We utilize the research-based, data-driven Experience Curriculum, as well as incorporate a variety of early educational methodologies, practices, and tools that allow for flexible and individualized hands-on experiential learning.

Our curriculum is aligned with early learning standards for Washington State and the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

Where

Cedar School is a hidden gem.

The school's beautiful and secure campus is located in the Licton Springs neighborhood of Seattle, less than two miles north of Green Lake and a short walk from the Northgate Light Rail station's John Lewis Memorial pedestrian bridge. The school is nestled within a residential area surrounded by cedar and other evergreen trees.

The Licton Springs neighborhood of Seattle holds great historical and cultural significance. Before European colonization, Coast Salish native people utilized the area for special ceremonies and regarded the mineral-rich springs as healing waters.

Cedar School acknowledges that we are on the traditional unceded land of the Coast Salish native people and honor with gratitude the first people of Seattle and this land.
