Lead Teacher - Director in Training
Position to Commence Fall (Anticipated Mid-September, 2023)
Exempt Salaried Position: $68,000/yr
Cedar School of Seattle is offering a unique and dynamic opportunity to work for an organization led by experienced educators who are invested in each team member's success.
Cedar School, a beautiful and newly built licensed (date TBD) early learning center, is seeking an experienced early care and education (ECE) teacher and leader to help support and eventually oversee, as Director, our high-quality program and high-performing team(s).
This position provides a tremendous opportunity to work directly with the owners of the school to promote a collaborative and dynamic work culture while supporting program quality, smoothness of operations, and overall success.
The Lead Teacher- Director in Training will work to create and maintain positive relationships with children, parents, and the broader community supporting high-quality ECE for our community’s youngest learners.

This includes: prioritizing and maintaining full enrollment capacity at all times, appropriate use of company time and maintaining a complete focus on work while at work, appropriate use and documentation of company funds and incentive programs (i.e., all resources and assets owned by and earned on behalf of the school and its expenditures), implementing cost reduction strategies, and securing the best value for products, goods, and services.
The Lead Teacher - Director in Training will lead by example and promote a culture rooted in collaboration and cohesion.

Additional Description:
The Lead Teacher - Director in Training will initiate duties as a Lead Teacher for an early education classroom (either toddler & waddler or preschool ages). As enrollment increases, The Lead Teacher - Director in Training will help to train the teaching successor(s) of the room(s) and move to a full-time administration position as Cedar School Director.
The Lead Teacher - Director in Training is required to work a minimum shift of 8:15 am - 5:30 pm, M-F. As student enrollment increases, a Program Supervisor will be brought on to support the Director, and the Director's hours will adjust to a minimum of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
It is a key expectation that the Director will oversee, manage, and control the operations of the school.

School holidays and breaks paid (a combined total of approximately 4 weeks per year), plus up to an additional 48 hours of personal paid time off annually ( 1 hour PTO accrued for every 40 hours worked)

Basic Requirements:
Washington State DCYF requirements for ECE Director
BA or MA in ECE or related field plus two years performing in the role of ECE Director, Assistant Director, or Program Supervisor for a licensed ECE center preferred
A minimum of 45 college-level credits in ECE preferred
You must have completed STARS Basic 30, DCYF Director Licensing Orientation Modules, BBP, CPR, and First Aid, and have a Food Handler's Card prior to hire
Successfully complete or have completed a Background Check
